Confidence in Who You Are

ISSUES OF LIFE: Confidence in Who You Are

"Loser!" "Failure!" "Stupid!" "Liar!" "Adulterer!" How sad that these words have been declared by people to their friends and loved ones, sometimes, even by parents to their  own children. Has someone shouted at you one or more of these words? Remember what we have learned about words having life or power. Sometimes, these words are received and become embedded in someone's heart and mind that leads to feelings of depression, condemnation, low self-esteem and even to suicide.
The Bible says (Proverbs 23:7) that "For as a man thinks in his heart, so is he". Therefore, whatever you regard yourself as, that you are. What ever you think you can do, that you are able to do. Confidence is the certainty that you can do what you think you can do. Perhaps since childhood, words have been spoken into your life that made you lose that confidence in your self, therefore, you need to renew your mind. You need to delete those things that have been encoded into your mind and heart and replace them with new thoughts and beliefs.
David asked God (Psalm 8: 4-9) "What is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him?" and further expressed his awe that man had been given dominion over all other God's creations. David again expressed God's concern for man in Psalm 139:13-17 by praising Him for he was fearfully and wonderfully made and for His precious thoughts for him which He revealed in Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the thoughts I have for you, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope". So, what am I saying here? That if this is how important you are to God, how much more should you regard yourself as important.
Therefore, "You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you" (Philippians 4:13), yes, even women. So where does your confidence come from? Our confidence is in Christ Jesus who has done everything for us; all we need to do is believe. Our own strength and abilities may produce something in our life but the perfect will of God will produce good things and even more. Paul said in Galatians 3:28-29 "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if your are Christ's, then you are Abraham's seed and heirs according to the promise". Are you a female? Then you are definitely included in that promise.
So now, who do you think you are?

Words are sharper than sword. It may not hurt physically but more on the emotional and psychological aspects. The receiving person may carry these hurtful words and scarred him through out his life. A responsible person must be careful for every words he will let out of his mouth. Thanks Carmen for visiting and commenting.
