"Honor Your Father & Mother, That It May Be Well With You"

SPIRITUAL FOOD: "Honor Your Father and Mother, That It May Be Well With You"

In celebration of Father's Day, I post the following verses to remind us about the importance of honoring our father, and mother, and how fitting it is for them to be recognized for their role in our upbringing and our life. But it also more fitting to recognize the Father of our fathers, the Father of us all--our God in heaven who created and takes care of us all.

Ephesians 6:1-4  "Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 'Honor your father and mother', which is the first commandment with promise: 'That it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth'. And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord."

Hebrews 12: 5- 7  "And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons: 'My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him. For whom the Lord loves He chastens, and scourges every son whom He receives'. If you endure chastening, God deals with you as sons, for what son is there whom a father does not chasten?"

Hebrews 12: 9  "Furthermore, we have had human fathers who corrected us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much more readily be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live?"

Matthew 7: 11  "If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!"
