Spiritual Food: "Do Not be Drunk with Wine, But Be Filled with the Spirit"

"Do Not Be Drunk with Wine, But Be Filled with the Spirit"

As Christians, the Bible is our manual of life and there are many verses which reveal to us that drinking too much alcohol creates trouble and is not good for us. If the Word of God, which is spiritual and the beginning of all creation, document it so through the book to try to warn us, much more will God use our inner man which is our spirit to convict us when we get drunk more and more and more. This is not to condemn those who drink, but to remind them to be sober and clear-headed while drinking so that you can always be in control through the help of the Holy Spirit. Also, to be cautious that wanting to drink more and more can lead to alcohol-dependency.

Proverbs 20: 1  "Wine is a mocker, strong drink is a brawler, and whoever is led astray by it is not wise."

Proverbs 23: 29-33   "Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has contentions? Who has complaints? Who has wounds without cause? Who has redness of eyes? Those who linger long at the wine, those who go in search of mixed wine. Do not look on the wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the cup, when it swirls around smoothly. At the last it bites like a serpent and stings like a viper. Your eyes will see strange things, and your heart will utter perverse things."

Isaiah 28: 7  "But they also have erred through wine, and through intoxicating drink are out the the way. The priest and the prophet have erred through intoxicating drink, they are swallowed up by the wine...They err in vision, they stumble in judgment."
Ephesians 5:18  "And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit..."
