SPIRITUAL FOOD: "The Fear of the Lord is the Beginning of Wisdom"

Wisdom gives you the ability to make good decisions in life. It is either taught or learned from experience. A parent gives advice to his children, a teacher to his students, a boss to his employee, a pastor to his flock--wisdom is being passed on from generation to generation. However, we must be able to distinguish from the wisdom that comes from God and from the wisdom of the world. For the wisdom of the world leads to carelessness, self-centeredness, greed and corruption, but the wisdom from Above is pure, gentle, loving, righteous and comes from the Word of God which is Jesus, Himself.

Proverbs 9:10-11 "The fear (awe) of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. For by me your days will be multiplied, and years of life will be added to you."

Proverbs 4:7 "Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore, get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding."

Proverbs 4:10-13 "Hear, my son, and receive my sayings, and the years of your life will be many. I have taught you in the way of wisdom; I have led you in right paths. When you walk, your steps will not be hindered, and when you run, you will not stumble. Take firm hold of instruction, do not let go. Keep her, for she is your life."

Proverbs 3:7 "Do not be wise in your own eyes. Fear the Lord and depart from evil."

1 Corinthians 3: 19-20 "For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, 'He catches the wise in their own craftiness', and again, 'The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile' ".

Ephesians 5:15-17 "See then that you walk circumspectly (carefully), not as fools but as wise redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Therefore, do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is".

James 1:5 "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given him."
